Physiotherapy (often abbreviated to PT) is a health care profession that remediates impairments and promotes mobility, function, and quality of life through examination, diagnosis, and physical intervention (therapy using mechanical force and movement).

Why Physiotherapy is important?

With more moving parts than any other machine, it is not surprising that your body occasionally cries out in pain or refuses to do what you tell it. There are hundreds of different muscles and joints that can become injured or begin cause pain. Fortunately, there is an effective way to treat many of the problems you may experience – physiotherapy. Physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques to help your muscles and joints work to their full potential, helping to repair damage by speeding up the healing process and reducing pain and stiffness. Physiotherapists do not simply offer treatment - their advice can help you prevent problems returning or even happening in the first place.

Pilates is a method of controlled and systematic  movements, which should look and feel like a workout (not a therapy) when properly manifested. If practiced with consistency, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength in the abdominal and back muscles and develops control and endurance in the whole human body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong powerhouse, and improving coordination and balance.

Pilates allows for exercises to be modified in terms of difficulty levels , as well as modified for clients specific goals and/or limitations. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises. It is great for people with chronic back problems, poor posture or reduced flexibility. Here at Arra Physiotherapy Clinic, we run morning and evening Pilates classes, in 6 week blocks. We also run special Pilates classes for pregant women, who may join from the 12th week of pregancy onwards. Furthermore, we offer one-to-one Pilates sessions for clients who cannot commit to the blocks of 6 classes because of busy schedules, certain health issues or inability to execute certain exercises.

Massage promotes relaxation and well-being. If you have tight muscles caused by stress, repetitive movements, too much sitting, driving, trainig sessions or old injuries, massage could be the solution for you.

Here at Arra Physiotherapy Clinic, we offer the massage options:

  •  30 minute massage: During this massage, we generally focus on the back, neck and shoulder area (or if you are a runner, focus may be changed to the legs).

  •  1 hour full body massage: During this massage, we generally work on your back, legs and arms, placing our main focus on your tightest areas.

Depending on your level of mascular tightness, our therapists can provide either deep tissue massage, or a softer, relaxing massage.

If you need massage regurarly, you can also pay upfront for 5 massage sessions to avail of a great deal.
